<text>This article intends to investigate the conjuncture between the birth of an alphabet, the notion of space, the migration of people, the function of belief and religion and the formation of identities. It employs Ulfilas‘ biblical translation and his missioning attitude to comment on the project of Gothic conversion to Christianity and its attendant controversies, particularly that of Arianism. The article explores how spaces become cultural geographies and imbue geo-histories, specifically in the moment of Biblical translations and the travel of people. It also argues that language and spaces cannot escape the cultural-politics of nationality. At the end, it concludes by commenting of the contemporary relevance of the conjuncture above-mentioned.</text>

<text>In recent years, there has been a growing debate on the nature of Jurisprudence. Conventionally understood as the theory and philosophy of law, Jurisprudence in the modern era, has had to deal with issues manating from the more 'earthy' realms of political obligation and discourses on the 'nature of the state'. The great diversity of legal systems we see around the world, themselves pose a complex challenge when it comes to defining the 'province' of Jurisprudence. This paper seeks to examine certain basic questions like-What is the best legal system we can possibly hope for? Will these systems safeguard the basic rights of marginalized communities in conditions where there is an aggressive display of 'majoritarian will'? In order to answer these questions this paper will be looking at the contributions of various legal theorists, in particular those of Ronald Dworkin and John Rawls. Dworkin posits the idea of 'entrenching' certain rights, so that these rights are not undermined or destroyed through legislative prejudices. Rawls who in some senses represents the best traditions of the 'welfare liberals, elaborates on the idea of 'justice as fairness' and notions of distributive justice. The moot questions are —can these models be prescribed in the Indian context? Or is there a prospect of an indigenous theory which broadens the horizons of Jurisprudence?</text>

<text>There has been over some time now the de-disciplining of formerly traditional fields such as the Social Sciences, the Humanities and Languages, which in many significant ways have altered the categories of contemporary thought radically. This is perceived as advancement in critical thinking, but the all too facile and felicitous deployment of such ideas discredits intellectual rigor as it leaves unmarked the limits of such empowering border-crossings. While we need not mourn category-failure, we have to resist easy re-namings of certain fields such as Feminisms and Gender Studies. Yet it may also be equally simplistic not to redefine and extend the current dimensions of such knowledges to include both the re-theorizing of such fields, given the changing nature of thinking and practice in the contemporary context. Hence it is relevant to ask: Should we frame gender questions differently? But it is equally important to resist the debunking of questions of gender in favor of ambiguating even the salutary contributions of feminism and gender studies. It is precisely this contradiction, one that seeks disruption for its own sake, that I wish to investigate and respond to. True, there will be more questions than answers in this respect but it is precisely those I wish to raise in the current article.</text>

<text>Depression has been found to be one of the main health concerns, especially in the case of women. A recent study by WHO found that depression will be the second important component in Global Burden of Disease (GBD) by the year 2020 in the case of women. Keeping this in view, the present study was corned out to see the depression levels and differences between women with pre and post menopause stages. The sample consists of 150 tribal women (84 in pre menopause stage and 66 in post menopause stage), with an age ranging from 30-60 years, taken from the Visakhapatnam agency area Andhra Pradesh. A vernacular translation (into Telugu) of Beck's Depression Inventory (1978) was administered to the sample. The results indicate that 23% of the tribal women were in 'Borderline Depression' or in 'Severe Depression' that needs clinical assistance. Significant difference was found between the pre and the post menopause stage groups with post menopause group being in borderline clinical depression. Results were also analyzed in terms of family type, period of menopause, husband type, body weight, health problems, hobbies and socio economic status.</text>

<text>The purpose of this investigation is to study the internet addition and its psychological-social effects in female internet users in Esfahan City, in the year 2006. The statistical population of this study was the whole population of the female internet users of the cities of Isfahan and Shaheenshar. 115 people (54 single females and 61 married females) who were the internet users of Isfahan City comprised the sample of this study. They were selected using the multistage cluster sampling method. The instrument of this investigation was a researcher-made questionnaire which contained 23 items measuring addiction to the Internet. The following four questions were suggested in this study:1. What are the characteristics of the population of the Internet-addicted users in Esfahan City?2. How is the addiction to the Internet among the female Internet users in Esfahan City?3. How are the common psychological disorders among the female Internet addicted users in Esfahan City?4. How are the social effects of using the internet among the Internet addicted females in Esfahan City? What follows is some of the obtained results. Addiction to the internet among the internet-addicted females is more than the average level. The percentage of addiction to the Internet is not the same in different female age groups. The internet-addicted female users prefer using the Internet to being with their family, walking around with others, and visiting the relatives and friends. Use of the Internet is interesting and different for the usual life of people who are emotionally depressed. It may also lead to the seclusion of some female Internet-dependent users. Most of the female Internet-addicted users believe that the use of the Internet is psychologically pacifying and the troubles caused by others or disruption in internet connection makes them nervous.Statistical methods used in this study: one-variable tests, Chi-square, Analysis of recognition</text>
