Scratch gives these students the opportunity to create their own games instead of being passive consumers of these programs. Thus, to learn programming using Scratch allows students to be actors in their learning which increases their capacity to solve problems. The objective of this work is to propose a pedagogical scenario to teach Scratch to primary school students based on active pedagogical approaches that put the learner at the centre of the teaching-learning process. Once challenged by a problem, students propose solutions. Scratch gives the opportunity to verify the accuracy of the proposed solutions. Accordingly, students try to detect the source of the error and rectify the instructions of their programs. Visual novel is used as a media to emphasise interactivity by delivering a story inside a game. This research investigates the level of immersion and behavioural intention to use using Hedonic-Motivation System Adoption Model (HMSAM). Evaluation was conducted using questionnaires with 46 students as respondents. The results showed that the application was able to increase students’ interest in learning mathematics. This is indicated by the level of behavioural intention to use of 84.28% which states that students strongly agree that the game is able to increase the reusability of the application. In addition, the game obtained 82.09% for the immersion aspect, showing that students alsostrongly agree that the game is able to make the players get carried away. Blended learning is widely used in school and university subjects. This research aims to determine how blended learning has been applied to algorithms and programming courses over the last 20 years. This study analyzes the quality and quantity of scientific publications using bibliometric techniques and then provides an overview of how blended learning is used and its impact. For this analysis and review, this study conducted a bibliometric analysis of articles published in the last 20 years (2000–2021) and then presented the 10 most cited articles. We established the following criteria for articles: 1) sourced from the Scopus database, 2) concerned about blended learning in algorithms and programming, and 3) publication is limited to articles published in indexed international journals and proceedings. The VOSviewer and MS-Excel applications help with data presentation in this method. We collected 240 articles that met these criteria from the Scopus database, which contained 297 articles published between 2000 and 2021. The most-cited article received 52 citations, while the least received only 3. The top 10 most cited articles are from the following countries: 1) Norway, 2) Serbia, and 3) Saudi Arabia. We divided the articles into categories based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The findings of this study can be used as a reference for state-of-the-art and novelty, as well as for the dissemination of scientific references related to the use of blended learning for introductory algorithms and programming. The sample group used in the experiment was 4th grade students from school T, and classes were randomized using the stratified random sampling method. Students were categorized into 2 groups: those with average scores and those with high scores in science subjects. The final results were compared between the control group, 27 students learning normally using the conventional method, and the experimental group, 27 students learning using the space travel game. There were 52 students in total. The tools used in this experiment are a space travel game, an achievement assessment test, a pre- and posttest, and a questionnaire to determine the satisfaction level of students. The statistical tools used are the mean, percentage, and standard deviation, paired t test, and t test independent. The results of this experiment showed that the experimental group learning from the game obtained a higher score than that of the control group by 1.19, on average. The scores of both groups were shown to have statistically significant differences at a 95% confidence level. Furthermore, it will evaluate the innovative instructional design model with Mobile Technology accordingly. The participants in the project comprised 30 undergraduates from the Information Science program, Thai Studies program, and English program who took the Science, Technology and Environment for Life course. They were selected through the cluster sampling technique. The research instruments comprised the innovative instructional design model, evaluation forms and the pre- and post- achievement tests. Included as well was the questionnaire on undergraduates’ opinions towards the model. The data analysis used the mean, the standard deviation, and the t-test. In addition, the model contains distance learning lessons which have been developed by Mobile Technology, and have passed educational quality assurance measures. It has been categorized regarding content, educational technology, and assessment by experts in content, educational technology, and assessment. The innovative instructional design with Mobile Technology has also been rated as “most appropriate” by five experts in the areas of distance education, mobile technology, educational technology, assessment, and content. The undergraduates learning from the innovative instructional design model showed significant achievement at the .05 level and their satisfaction was rated at the “high satisfaction” level. This paper reports the research findings regarding selected elements of the innovative instructional design model. It comprises the input, the process, the output and the feedback.
