<text>As an object of Western public and media interest, Laos still appears to be an overlooked and unnoticed country. In a sense, it remains in the shadow of its larger neighbours Vietnam and Thailand, who capture the world’s attention in the context of the Indochina region, and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic itself remains rather on the sidelines of world politics. This state of affairs also relates to Western observers’ recognition of the social problems facing the country.
I focus this article on providing an insight into the specific characteristics of Laos and defining the social problems the country has had to face over the past three decades. It answers questions about the characteristics of Laos, how it fares in the HDI ranking and what social challenges it faces. The thesis put forward by the authors is that the LRLD, as a moderately developed and ethnically diverse country, is confronted with the resulting social problems.
The authors used the monographic method to conduct their research, which they based on an analysis of collected scientific publications, statistical data and internet sources. The research succeeded in confirming the hypothesis. The social problems plaguing the Lao People’s Democratic Republic have their origins primarily in the poor material situation of the majority of the population, the lack of infrastructure and the ethnic diversity that the authorities in Vientiane are unable to cope with. However, looking at the general trend of development in Laos, the scale and incidence of the issues described in the paper should gradually decrease.</text>

<text>This contribution is an attempt at a different reading of Wojciech Gutkowski’s Journey to Kalopeia (1817), which may be of interest to both Polish and Australian readers in the twenty-first century, since it tries to connect Polish history with the dream of the Antipodes represented by Australia. Gutkowski’s book, unknown until 1913, when it was deemed a utopian novel of little scientific value, gained recognition in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. At that time it was studied as a political treatise and an Enlightenment model for the creation of an ideal utopian-socialist-communist state. This paper offers a new reading of the work in question, discussing its cultural-historical aspects as a precursor of a specifically Polish model of a utopian-colonial state.</text>

<text>For the past three decades India's banking system has several outstanding achievements to its credit. The most striking is its extensive reach. It is no longer confined to only metropolitans or cosmopolitans in India. In fact, Indian banking system has reached even to the remote corners of the country. This is one of the main reasons for India's growth process. The government's regular policy for Indian banks since 1969 has paid rich dividends with the nationalization of 14 major private banks of India. Regional Rural Banks started their development process on 2 October 1975 with the formation of a single bank—Prathama Grameen Bank. The RRBs mobilize financial resources from rural/semi-urban areas and grant loans and advances mostly to small and marginal farmers, agricultural labourers and rural artisans. The area of operation of RRBs is limited to the area as notified by GoI covering one or more districts in the State. In this context, the present study is an attempt to examine the impact of amalgamation on physical performance of RRBs during post-amalgamation period.</text>

<text>Measuring the effectiveness of the training in life skills education imparted to the school teachers in the aftermath of tsunami disaster was the broader aim of the study. Twenty five teachers from St. James High School, Vaniakudy, Government Middle School, Colachel and St. Alex Middle School, Kottilpadu were selected for the training programme with the permission of the Education Department officials at Kanniyakumari District. Profile of the participants was collected using a performa designed for the purpose. Pre-post administration of (1) Knowledge Assessment Scale (Sekar, 2007) and (3) Life Skills - Opinion Questionnaire (Bharat, Kishore Kumar & Vranda, 2005) was done to measure the effectiveness of the training. Results showed a significant knowledge difference (‘t’ value = 26.6, df – 24 ‘p’ <0.001) before and after training, indicating that the training was beneficial for the participants.</text>

<text>In this article, the authors explore the concept of judicial activism and its application in the Australian domestic cases of Australian Capital Television Pty Ltd v Commonwealth and Love v Commonwealth, and in the US case of Obergefell v Hodges. The article highlights the devastating effects of judicial activism on legal interpretation, arguing that such activism compromises the doctrine of separation of powers and affects the realisation of the rule of law, resulting in a method ofinterpretation that incorporates personal biases and political opinion, thus ignoring the original intent of the framers of the Australian Constitution. Moreover, the article highlights that implementing a federal Bill of Rights might further exacerbate these ongoing problems concerning judicial activism in Australia.</text>

A medico-military discourse emerged in the Cantonment with the spread of Sexually Transmitted Diseases among white troopers. Transgressive sex was tolerated despite prostitutes being considered a receptacle of diseases. In not recognizing the dynamics of disease transmission, regulatory measures and race, sex, and class-bias blatantly vilified prostitutes. Though civilian spaces in the State of Karnataka were not as complex, regulations were enforced in tandem with the Cantonment during the colonial rule. Consequently, after the independence, the State’s measures were coincidental with the social purity movement’s censure of Devadasis.</text>

<text>Rain is an important source of water. The Indian economy is heavily dependent on agriculture and the livelihood of Indian farmer largely depends on rains. The farms are more dependent on rainfall than any other water resource. As we observe there is a lot of climate change in recent years due to industrialization, because of these climate changes there are a lot of floods and droughts. So, it might be helpful to predict the rainfall beforehand and take necessary precautions to protect crops and other sorts of damages that might occur due to the irregular rainfall. So, we present a model that could reasonably predict the future rainfall using very fewer variables. The reason why we developed a model which uses sparse data is that sometimes it could be hard to obtain a large amount of data due to lack or improper working of recording equipment and so on. So, it will be good to have a working model in those situations and applications are implemented. This paper affords a overview of system learning and offers a brief take a look at on distinctive machine gaining knowledge of strategies together with their programs on mobile devices. It also affords an outline of overall performance-associated parameters of gadget studying techniques useful for mobile devices.</text>

<text>India is an agricultural country, and farming is the most common occupation among Indians. Rice is a vital crop in the agricultural industry. Productivity has been declining for almost a decade. There are several causes for this, including fragmented land holdings, Indian farmer illiteracy, a lack of decision-making capacity in selecting excellent seeds, manure, and irrigational infrastructure. One of the major reasons for rice crop failure is due to malnutrition. Rice, maybe in particular, lacking in nutrients such as potassium, nitrogen, and phosphorus. Nutrient deficiency detection in crops is necessary to plan further actions to enhance yield. Most studies have relied on the use of transfer learning models for agricultural uses. Ensembling of different transfer learning techniques has the ability to greatly increase the predictive model’s performance. Five transfer learning architectures InceptionV3, Xception, VGG16, Resnet50, and MobileNet are all taken into account, and their different ensemble models are used to perform deficiency detection in rice plants. The mobile application was created as a user-friendly interface to assist farmers. The accurate diagnosis of these nutritional deficiencies and recommendation of fertilizer could aid farmers in providing correct plant intervention.</text>
