<text>While Germany does not allow dual citizenship in principle, since 23 November 2014, children born on German territory to non-German parents are no longer forced at the age of 23 to choose between German citizenship or that of their parents. Rather, they will be able to hold dual citizenship indefinitely. While this may be a far cry from more liberal dual citizenship policies in other countries, the progressive reform of Germany’s citizenship law gains its specific meaning from that country’s tormented history of ethnic nationhood and blood-based citizenship. It is also striking at a time when many countries in the Western world are moving towards more restrictive immigration and citizenship policies. In this paper, we argue that the abrogation of the Optionspflicht [the duty to choose] constitutes a step in leaving behind the country’s notorious tradition of constituting an “ethnic nation.” Our analysis confirms Christian Joppke’s claim that politics and party ideologies matter for the “de-ethnicization” and “re-ethnicization” of citizenship, simultaneous processes that are neither linear nor necessarily path-dependent.

<text>The Civil Liability Acts place significant limitations and caps on the damages that are recoverable for claims caught by those Acts or relevant parts thereof. Such limitations and preclusions significantly impact on what were plaintiffs’ existing common law rights prior to the passage of the CLAs. Importantly, however, many of those limitations do not apply to certain classes of claims excluded from the operation of the CLAs. The focus of this article is on some widely (but not uniformly) adopted exclusions to the operation of the CLAs, namely that many parts of the CLAs do not apply to claims arising from types of intentional conduct. Many of these limitations are express; but other limitations raise issues of intention that are less patent. The precise reach of the ‘intentional conduct’ exclusions in the CLAs has not been resolved and many important questions remain unanswered. This is despite the increasing number of cases coming before the courts in which plaintiffs are attempting to circumvent the operation of the CLAs. The issues will continue to attract judicial attention. This article considers the different interpretation and operation of the ‘intentional conduct’ exclusions in the CLAs and seeks to answer some of unanswered questions.</text>

<text>The arrival of new technologies in Hearing Healthcare is evident. The ability to connect hearing aids to smartphones via Bluetooth has opened up a host of new possibilities. By using an associated app, it is possible, among other things, to make an appointment with the Hearing Care Professional remotely. This function is nothing other than a further development of the classic Tele- Audiology. However, since the user base is mostly older, the question arises about the importance of the personal assistant in the clinic in setting up and explaining the technology for successful use. For this reason, a study was conducted among 110 patients who had already received such a form of intervention. For this purpose, the existing Technology Acceptance Model was further developed to include the latent variable of personal assistance. Existing basic hypotheses from other areas of application were confirmed and an additional relevant variable was identified. It could be concluded that due to a further shift of the patient generation towards baby boomers, the need for personal assistance might decrease.</text>

<text>Technology has the potential to improve many aspects of our daily lives, including learning. It has been proven to increase student engagement and learning outcomes. With recent advances in the capabilities of smart mobile devices and their growing penetration rate among the student cohort, it is possible to take advantage of these devices to design appropriate exercises and tools that foster student’s knowledge and learning. In this paper we present some of the most well known mobile procedures that are used for secondary students in order to promote their learning and their skills. Additionally, its role in secondary students who face learning and other difficulties is investigated. Lastly, the results of a study that examined whether there is a relationship between the performance of secondary school Greek students in the language lesson, in mathematics lesson and index of verbal intelligence, index of intelligence practice and general index of intelligence are showed thoroughly.</text>

<text>In recent years, the use of ride hailing mobile application services is increasing exponentially. Customers’ expectation of these phone services varies and change dynamically as the needs of each individual also vary. Customer reviews about mobile application are honest, voluntary opinions; and these could become essential input for mobile application providers to measure satisfaction. However, managing a large number of reviews into actionable plans could be challenging. This study combines the Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) and Multiple-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM)-VIKOR approach to process 600 reviews into a meaningful insight to enhance ride hailing mobile application services. The four-phase method analysis concluded that application ease of use and affordability are the most important aspects that most contribute to customers’ satisfaction in ride hailing mobile application services.</text>

<text>The European Union has no unilateral legislative capacity in the area of social policy. However, the European Commission does play the role of guide by providing a discursive framework and targets for its 28 Member States to meet. Since the late 1990’s, the EU’s ideas on social policy have moved away from the traditional social protection model towards promoting social inclusion, labour activation and investing in children. These new policies represent the social investment perspective, which advocates preparing the population for a knowledge-based economy to increase economic growth and job creation and to break the intergenerational transmission of poverty. The EU began the gradual incorporation of the social investment perspective to its social dimension with the adoption of ten-year strategies. Since 2000, it has continued to set goals and benchmarks as well as offer a forum for Member States to coordinate their social initiatives. Drawing on a series of interviews conducted during a research experience in Brussels as well as official documents, this paper is a descriptive analysis of the recent modifications to the EU’s social dimension. It focuses on the changes created by the Europe 2020 Strategy and the Social Investment Package. By tracing the genesis and evolution of these initiatives, the author identifies four obstacles to social investment in the European Union's social dimension.
