<text>The mass transfer of unsteady two-dimensional flow of MHD non-Newtonian Maxwell fluid over a stretching surface in the presence of first order constructive/destructive chemical reaction is presented. Upper convected Maxwell (UCM) fluid model is used here to characterize the non-Newtonian behavior of the fluid. Using similarity solutions the governing partial differential equations are transformed to ordinary differential equations and are then solved numerically by shooting method. The flow field and mass transfer are significantly influenced by the governing parameters. The results show that fluid velocity initially decreases with increasing unsteadiness parameter (0 to 0.3) and concentration decreases significantly due to unsteadiness. The effect of increasing values of the Maxwell parameter (0 to 0.4) is to suppress the velocity field. The concentration is enhanced with increasing Maxwell parameter. The fluid velocity decreases with increasing magnetic parameter (0 to 0.3). DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/jname.v9i2.12541 Journal of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering 9(2012) 123-133</text>

<text>The present study explores the thermal and Joule heating effect of Casson nanofluid flow with chemical reaction over an inclined porous stretching surface. The results of heat source/sink, viscous dissipation, and suction are regarded. The new physical governing equations of partial differential flow equations are converted into nonlinear ordinary differential equations and are numerically resolved employing the implicit finite difference technique. The influence on velocity, temperature, and concentration fields of many flow variables are addressed. The numerical and graphical findings are defined for the numerous related attentiveness flow parameters. The empirical data reported are compared with the published outcomes.</text>

<text>This article is an experiential insight into the undergraduate and postgraduate education in English Studies. It can be considered as a vantage point from which certain prevalent institutional questions may begin to be raised. While there is a clear policy imperative on interdisciplinarity, the category makes little sense unless there is a strong sense of the terrain on which such ideas may be foisted. Therefore, an evaluation in terms of student-grounded reality of capacity, institutional breadth and actual faculty strengths and limitations is essential. The paper is an analysis from the demand side‘ that is a doctoral student, who engages with how such attempts are received by the student. Future research could study how widely applicable this is to the various scales and types of universities.</text>

<text>This paper reports the buckling behaviour of glass/vinylester polymer composite filament wound shells of underwater vessels. The shells were tested for buckling under hydrostatic loading and microstrains as a function of applied hydrostatic pressure were measured. Numerical analysis was performed for critical buckling pressure based on Block Lancoz buckling analysis and for Von-Mises stresses and strains based on static analysis using ANSYS. Von-Mises stresses corresponding to hydrostatic pressures were computed analytically by Reduced Stiffness Matrix method. The numerical results of critical buckling pressure for 10 mm thick vessels showed 7.12 % deviation from the experimental results. The microstrains predicted by FEA were in good agreement with the experimental strains. Von-Mises stresses predicted by FEA agreed well with the analytical computations.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/jname.v11i1.16087</text>

<text>The end to end encryption of connections over the internet have evolved from SSL to TLS 1.3 over the years. Attacks have exposed vulnerabilities on each upgraded version of the cryptographic protocols used to secure connections over the internet. Organisations have to keep updating their web based applications to use the latest cryptographic protocol to ensure users are protected and feel comfortable using their web applications. But, the problem is that, web applications are not always standalone systems, there is usually a maze of systems that are integrated to provide services to the end user. The interactions between these systems happens within the controlled internal private network environment of the organisation. While only the front ending web application is visible to the end user. It is not often feasible to upgrade all internal systems to use the latest cryptographic protocol for internal interfaces/integration due to prohibitive cost of redevelopment and upgrades to infra and systems. Here we define an algorithm to setup internal & external firewalls to downgrade to a lower version of the cryptographic protocol (SSL) within the internal network for the integration/interfacing connections of internal systems while mandating the latest cryptographic protocol (TLS 1.x) for end user connections to the web application.</text>

<text>'Freedom and Determinism' is a conflicting postulate with reference to the nature of human conduct. Is man free or is everything determined? Freedom is a matter of choice based on rationality, intelligence and knowledge. Moral freedom implies both choice and responsibility. Man is morally good because, he enjoys freedom which makes life meaningful. So, freedom and social responsibility go hand in hand. Determinists argue that free will is impossible and preceding causes necessitate everything. Naturalistic determinists consider man a part of causal chain. His actions are determined by antecedent causes. Hence, man is an 'instrumental cause. Theistic Determinists trace man's actions to God's controlling hand. Hard-determinists believe that determinism is true and moral responsibility is an illusion. So, determinism is incompatible with free will and moral responsibility. They interpret freedom as the 'Liberty of indifference.' In the opinion of soft determinists, determinism is true but man can make choices, which are the effects of certain antecedent events. So, freedom and determinism are compatible and interpret freedom as the 'Liberty of Spontaneity'. According to libertarians, determinism is false, freedom is possible and man is morally responsible for his actions. Freedom and determinism, being an ethical problem sometimes seems to deny each other and some other times seem to co-inhere in our life. The paper argues that freedom, however limited it may be, is a 'fact' of experience while, determinism is mostly a matter of 'faith', and whether to accept the fact or the faith, depends on one's individual choice and belief. Both represent different attitudes of man. So, the key is more 'attitudinal' than 'conceptual'.</text>

<text>The number of users and their network utilization will enumerate the traffic of the network. The accurate and timely estimation of network traffic is increasingly becoming important in achieving guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS) in a wireless network. The better QoS can be maintained in the network by admission control, inter or intra network handovers by knowing the network traffic in advance. Here wireless network traffic is modeled as a nonlinear and nonstationary time series. In this framework, network traffic is predicted using neural network and statistical methods. The results of both the methods are compared on different time scales or time granularity. The Neural Network(NN) architectures used in this study are Recurrent Radial Basis Function Network (RRBFN) and Echo state network (ESN).The statistical model used here in this work is Fractional Auto Regressive Integrated Moving Average (FARIMA) model. The traffic prediction accuracy of neural network and statistical models are in the range of 96.4% to 98.3% and 78.5% to 80.2% respectively.</text>

<text>Proficiency in English occupies a significant place in the newly formed Kurdistan region of Iraq. English is considered a window of opportunities and economic development of its people and the region. The quality of teaching and learning plays a crucial role in achieving the objective. However, the lack of trained teachers in English at the school level has severely affected the standards of English at the tertiary level. Students pursuing undergraduate courses at Cihan University find it a challenging task to meet the required standards. The lack of a strong foundation in English in addition to the constraints of time and the high standards of the curriculum at the tertiary level makes it more challenging for the teachers to teach them writing skills. The present study aims at exposing the Kurdish students to English collocations vocabulary through Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) to enhance their writing and communicative purposes. Twenty-five students from undergraduate courses were randomly selected for the purpose of the study. The results have shown an improved performance of the students in using the right collocations. The study brings out the need for integrating MALL in the regular curriculum at the tertiary levels in Kurdistan.</text>

<text>Developing writing skills in a foreign language is one of the demanding tasks for both teachers and students. It not only demands extensive reading and intensive practice in writing both inside and outside the classroom but also timely feedback and error-correction. The experimental study aimed at studying the impact of collaborative writing tasks using mobile applications like WhatsApp, Google Docs, and Google Slides on enhancing the writing ability at the pre-intermediate level of Common European Frame of Reference (CEFR). The participants were tertiary level students of Cihan University who were randomly divided into two equal groups (n=28). One group used WhatsApp and the other group used the Google Docs and Google Slides apps on their mobile devices. The comparative study analyzed the impact of each application on improving the writing skills of the students with pretest and posttest results and semi-structured interviews. The results indicated that the participants who used Google Docs and Google Slides apps have performed better than the participants in the WhatsApp group. The results have implications for teachers teaching writing skills and students who write using mobile applications.</text>
