This paper clarifies what defence diplomacy is, and what it means for modern International relations. In doing so, the paper seeks to resolve the academic oversight by critically examining the concept of defence diplomacy itself. In particular, this paper plans to address the conceptual ambiguity of the term “defencediplomacy” since its very first use by the British government in 1990.  Breaking down the various existing approaches to defence diplomacy, its tools, and execution in different case studies, this paper identifies the concept as a variant of soft power that is used to integrate the strategic thinking of another state. By linking defence diplomacy to the concept of soft power, this paper will not only cover the practices used by the states today but also illustrate the underlying strategic mechanism that makes defence diplomacy an effective and dynamic geopolitical tool in a global arena. The sample consisted of 400 people living in different parts of the city. They were assessed on socio-demographic data sheet, Orientation to Mental Illness Scale, Exposure, Knowledge and Social Distance Scale and Attitudes towards Mental Illness Scale. The Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Chi-square test, Student t-test, ANOVA, ANCOVA, Pearson’s correlation and Step-wise Multiple Regression Analysis. The study reveals that the common man had neutral orientation to mental illness and is moderate in their attitudes to mental illness. However, many were not informed regarding legal provisions available for the mentally ill and rehabilitation services existing in the community. Although the public was fairly low on social distance, this did not apply to intimate relationships such as sharing a room or marriage. Socio-demographic factors, especially like that of education, had an impact on the attitudes of many to mental illness, with the higher educated being better aware and more positive towards the mentally ill. The study brings out the need for programmes to raise the awareness among the ordinary citizen on various aspects of mental illness including existing legal provisions for the mentally ill in the community and rehabilitation services. However, in rural schools, facilities for conducting IQ tests are very difficult to obtain, usually only in big cities. Whereas student identification is very necessary before students register for elementary schools, in order to determine students' abilities, so that later students can be facilitated according to their learning needs. This research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach that aims to identify slow learners in rural schools. The participants involved were all students in four schools in one village in Indonesia. Data were obtained by conducting interviews with teachers, sorting student report cards, observing the learning process, and administering tests. The results showed that based on interviews with teachers, sorting student report cards, observing the learning process, and giving tests, there were 17 students identified as slow learners. Among them are 6 female students and 11 male students. In addition to the IQ test, the identification of slow learners can be done by interviewing teachers, viewing student report cards, observing the learning process in class, and giving tests to students. It is argued that through the securitization of narcotics, the US adopted a national security stance and sought to impose its supply side policies through coercive diplomacy and militaristic means.
