Emotional Intelligence Scale and Cattell's 16 PF Inventory were used to collect data. A sample of 300 teacher trainees undergoing the B.Ed. course in 6 Colleges of Education during 2003-04 constituted the sample for the present study. In selecting the colleges as well as students, the random sampling technique was used. The Pearson's Product-moment Coefficient of Correlation technique, the Multiple Regression Analysis (linear), and the Path Analysis techniques were used. The study revealed that: (i) Personality factors like A, B, C, E, F G, H, and Q3 have positive association with emotional intelligence, personality factors like Q2, Q4, and 0 have negative relationship with emotional intelligence of teacher trainees, personality factors such as I, L, M, N, and Q1 do not have any association with emotional intelligence of teacher trainees; (ii) Factor — G seems to be the best predictor of emotional intelligence among all the predictor variables; (iii) Direct as well as indirect path coefficients of personality components like Factors A, B, C, E, G, H, Q2, Q3, Q4 were found to be significant, whereas, the path coefficients of personality components such as Factors F, I, L, M N, 0, Q, were found to be not significant. The term "Sustainability" implies the ability of a natural resources system to produce socially optimum level of output which is necessary to meet in perpetuity the needs and aspirations of the people dependent on the system, with no detrimental effects on the resources system itself and the physical environment, and with no imposition of significantly greater risks on future generations. The problem of education in modern societies cannot be over¬estimated. Hence, crucial need for the education of the rural masses is strongly felt. It is very fascinating to probe into the intricate realities pertaining to the background, aspirations and achievements of the students coming from rural and urban background in the field of higher education. In all 300 research scholars of Bangalore University drawn from rural and urban areas were studied by employing an interview schedule. Surprisingly, the data consist of 197 student scholars coming from rural areas. The findings seem to negate the much debated and lamented poor levels of representation, aspirations and achievements of rural students in the field of higher education. Further, the findings indicate that the identity of student scholars with rural background has significant and positive implications for gender, faculty, social origin and orientations. In an age of cyber punkism, when the proxemics of the 'private' and the 'public' has been problematised, the 'muscle power' has been contested and wrested by the 'lung power' and 'scribal power' of women's writing and has become a force to reckon with The claims, however, of feminism in its fight for women's liberation are not without limitations. Black feminists Barbara Christian and Alice Walker and Third world feminists Gayatri Chakravarthi Spivak and Chandra Talpade Mohanfy have articulated their concerns of homogenizing the female subjectivity without contextualizing its cultural constructions. This paper seeks to extend the argument further by looking into the representational politics within the Third World feminist discourses.
