The paper explores the personal, family and educational background of the physicians. This would enable us not only to have a social profile of the medical practitioners in the social system, but may also be of relevance in explaining their professional performance. An important finding of the study reveals that the proportion of those coming from higher social origins being marginally higher at 55 percent. It could be indicating to a trend in which the share of less privileged in higher ranking professions is on the rise. An attempt is made to understand the implications of social origin for other traits. The findings reveal that social origin varies significantly with rural urban background, basis for medical education, age at thinking of medical professions and educational grades of the physicians. China and India had similar development strategies prior to their breaking out of their deliberate insulation from the world economy and the ushering in of market-oriented economic reforms and liberalization. China began reforming its closed, centrally planned, non-market economy in 1978. India always had a large private sector and functioning markets, which were subject to rigid, state control until the hesitant and piecemeal reforms of the 1980s. These became systemic and far broader after India experienced a severe macroeconomic crisis in 1991. The political environment under which reforms were initiated and implemented in the two countries and their consequences were very different. India continues to be an open, participatory, multiparty democracy, while China has an authoritarian, one party regime, though it is liberalizing policies. China and India have a lot to gain, both from trading with each other and cooperating in the WTO. Each can learn from the other's policies, their successes and failures. This paper discusses a subset of economic issues common to both countries without touching on others, such as privatization of SOEs, reforms of the labour market (e.g., dealing with the "hokou" system in China and labour laws in India), financial sector reforms and, above all, political reforms. Although it may sound chauvinistic and naive, there is no doubt that China can learn a lot from the functioning of a vibrant, but somewhat chaotic, multiparty participatory democracy in India. After all, as the Chinese become richer and economically free, they are likely to demand personal and political freedoms. Hopefully, the Communist Party of China will anticipate and accommodate such demands, as it seems to have started doing already. The statistical population of this study was the whole population of the female internet users of the cities of Isfahan and Shaheenshar. 115 people (54 single females and 61 married females) who were the internet users of Isfahan City comprised the sample of this study. They were selected using the multistage cluster sampling method. The instrument of this investigation was a researcher-made questionnaire which contained 23 items measuring addiction to the Internet. The following four questions were suggested in this study:1. What are the characteristics of the population of the Internet-addicted users in Esfahan City?2. How is the addiction to the Internet among the female Internet users in Esfahan City?3. How are the common psychological disorders among the female Internet addicted users in Esfahan City?4. How are the social effects of using the internet among the Internet addicted females in Esfahan City?What follows is some of the obtained results. Addiction to the internet among the internet-addicted females is more than the average level. The percentage of addiction to the Internet is not the same in different female age groups. The internet-addicted female users prefer using the Internet to being with their family, walking around with others, and visiting the relatives and friends. Use of the Internet is interesting and different for the usual life of people who are emotionally depressed. It may also lead to the seclusion of some female Internet-dependent users. These are governed by elected councils, in which women and members of disadvantaged groups/castes have a fixed quota of seats. While the legislation is still relatively new, some states have been able to make fast progress in decentralizing tasks, power and funds, while others have been much slower. This article presents an initial review of the decentralization efforts, exploring administrative, fiscal and political dimensions, and the implementation problems at central, state and local levels. Most emphasis is given to development at the local level: the panchayats in rural areas and the ward committees in urban areas, which is where the impact of decentralization should be felt.
