During that time the Ukrainian nation – due to various factors – encountered a number of “windows of opportunity” for achieving the realization of dreams about independence and national sovereignty. The author identified in the period considered four “general moments,” of which two have been completed successfully. The first of these occurred in 1990–1991, when for the first time in modern history, Ukrainians managed to achieve a lasting and relatively stable independence. The second of the “moments” – still unresolved – are events that began in the late autumn of 2013. The process, called “Revolution of Dignity”, represents a new quality in the history of the Ukrainian nation, therefore, that the Ukrainians have to defend the status quo (independence, territorial integrity, sovereignty, etc.) but not to seek to achieve an independent being. The analysis leads to the conclusion that the ability of Ukrainians to achieve and maintain independence is largely a function of the relative power of the Russian state as measured with respect to the shape and quality of international relations. The article highlights the benefits of rainwater harvesting such as: provision of an economical water conservation measure, reduction of the burden on other sources of water, provision for agriculture when there is no rainfall, alternative and cleaner source of drinking water, prevention of top soil erosion, reduction of the possibility of floods, improved plant growth, greater responsiveness of water provision, and connection of water supply to natural water cycle. It also gives information regarding the rainwater harvesting practices in some countries abroad for further comparison and research into those practices by those who feel interested. Details of different techniques of rainwater harvesting are furnished so as to inculcate interest in the process. Calculation of rainwater harvesting potential is also discussed for estimating the possible benefits. How far India has moved in this direction is briefed for those who would want to bring about changes connected to their micro set up or policy making at macro level. The article is an endeavour to give a factual picture of rainwater harvesting in India, with the hope that it would inspire more popular implementation of this futuristic source of water conservation. It is not confined to lower socioeconomic levels of society. Women suffer emotional abuse at every level, even in so called educated, "cultured" houses. Psychological and emotional abuse is more common here. What is worse is that many times the victims themselves are not aware that they are being abused. Among the various types of psychological abuse, I wish to concentrate on "AmbientAbuse" — a very subtle form of abuse, where the victim is hardly aware that she is being abused. She believes that everything is normal and that it is her thoughts and behavior that are at fault. In the words of Sam Vaknin, who introduced the concept, 'Ambient abuse is the stealthy, subtle, underground currents of maltreatment that sometimes go unnoticed even by the victims themselves, until it is too late. Ambient abuse penetrates and permeates everything but is difficult to pinpoint and identify. It is ambiguous, atmospheric, and diffuse. Hence its insidious and pernicious effects. It is by far the most dangerous kind of abuse there is". Ambient abuse, therefore, is the fostering, propagation, and enhancement of an atmosphere of fear, intimidation, instability, unpredictability and irritation. There are no acts of traceable explicit abuse, nor any manipulative settings of control. Yet, the irksome feeling remains, a disagreeable foreboding, a premonition, a bad omen. In the long term, such an environment erodes the victim's sense of self-worth and self-esteem. Self-confidence is shaken badly. Often, the victim adopts a paranoid or schizoid stance and thus renders himself or herself exposed even more to criticism and judgment. The roles are thus reversed: the victim is considered mentally deranged and the abuser the suffering soul. There are five categories of ambient abuse and they are often combined in the conduct of a single abuser: I. Inducing Disorientation, II. Incapacitating, Ill. Shared Psychosis , IV Abuse of Information, V Control by Proxy. The current paper explores the extent of awareness about ambient abuse prevalent in our society.
