<text>This paper considers the issue of 'noticing' in second language acquisition, and argues for the potential of handheld devices to: (i) support language learners in noticing and recording noticed features 'on the spot', to help them develop their second language system; (ii) help language teachers better understand the specific difficulties of individuals or those from a particular language background; and (iii) facilitate data collection by applied linguistics researchers, which can be fed back into educational applications for language learning. We consider: theoretical perspectives drawn from the second language acquisition literature, relating these to the practice of writing language learning diaries; and the potential for learner modelling to facilitate recording and prompting noticing in mobile assisted language learning contexts. We then offer guidelines for developers of mobile language learning solutions to support the development of language awareness in learners.</text>

The plate is assumed to move with a constant velocity in the direction of fluid flow, while free stream velocity is assumed to follow exponentially increasing small perturbation law. The velocity, temperature and concentration profiles are presented graphically for different values of the parameters entering into the problem. Finally the effects of pertinent parameters on the skin friction coefficient, Nusselt number and Sherwood numbers distributions are derived and have shown through graphs and tables by using perturbation technique.</text>

<text>The present study explores the thermal and Joule heating effect of Casson nanofluid flow with chemical reaction over an inclined porous stretching surface. The results of heat source/sink, viscous dissipation, and suction are regarded. The new physical governing equations of partial differential flow equations are converted into nonlinear ordinary differential equations and are numerically resolved employing the implicit finite difference technique. The influence on velocity, temperature, and concentration fields of many flow variables are addressed. The numerical and graphical findings are defined for the numerous related attentiveness flow parameters. The empirical data reported are compared with the published outcomes.</text>

<text>The interaction of free convection with thermal radiation of a viscous incompressible unsteady MHD flow past a vertical cylinder with variable surface temperature and concentration is analyzed. The fluid is a gray, absorbing-emitting but non-scattering medium and the Rosseland approximation is used to describe the radiative heat flux in the energy equation. The governing equations are solved using an implicit finite-difference scheme of Crank-Nicolson type. Numerical results for the transient velocity, the temperature, the concentration, the local as well as average skin-friction, the rate of heat and mass transfer are shown graphically. It is observed that the presence of as well as increase in the magnetic field leads to decrease in the velocity field and rise in the thermal boundary thickness. The numerical predications have been compared with the existing information in the literature and good agreement is obtained. Keywords: Heat Transfer, radiation, finite-difference Scheme, vertical cylinderDOI: 10.3329/jname.v5i2.2615Journal of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering 6(1)(2009) 1-24 </text>

<text>Thermal radiation effects on hydromagnetic free convection flow past an impulsively started vertical plate with variable surface temperature and concentration is analyzed, by taking into account the heat due to viscous dissipation. The governing boundary layer equations of the flow field are solved by an implicit finite difference method of Crank-Nicholson type. A parametric study is performed to illustrate the influence of radiation parameter, magnetic parameter, Grashof number, Prandtl number, Eckert number on the velocity, temperature and concentration profiles. Also, the local and average skin-friction coefficient, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are presented graphically. The numerical results reveal that an increase in thermal radiation reduces both the velocity and temperature in the boundary layer and a rise in viscous dissipation accelerates the flow. Key words: Thermal radiation, MHD, viscous dissipation, vertical plate. <text>A study of unsteady MHD free convection flow through a porous vertical flat plate immersed in a porous medium in presence of magnetic field with radiation has been analyzed. Introducing a time dependent suction to the plate, a similarity procedure has been adopted by taking a time dependent similarity parameter. In this analysis we consider a Darcy-Forchhemier model and the corresponding momentum and energy equations have been solved numerically, for cooling and heating of the plate by employing Nachtsheim-Swigert iteration technique along with the sixth order Runge-Kutta integration scheme. Non-dimensional velocity and temperature profiles are then presented graphically for different values of the parameter entering into the problem. During the process of numerical computations the skin-friction coefficient (viscous drag) and the rate of heat transfer (Nusselt number), which are of physical interest, are sorted out and presented in the form of tables. <text>Thermo diffusion and chemical effects on heat transfer in MHD mixed convection flow and masstransfer past an infinite vertical plate with Ohmic heating and viscous dissipation have beenstudied. Approximate solutions have been derived for velocity, temperature, concentration profiles, skin friction, rate of heat transfer and rate of mass transfer using perturbation technique. Theobtained results are discussed with the help of graphs to observe the effect of various parameterslike Schmidt number (Sc), Prandtl number (Pr), Magnetic parameter (M),Soret number (So) andchemical parameter (K), taking two cases viz. Case I: when Gr > 0 (flow on cooled plate) and CaseII: Gr < 0 (flow on heated plate). Thermal diffusion causes both the fluid velocity and temperature tofall due to the presence of the chemical effect. Velocity and temperature profiles are higher formercury than electrolytic solution. Soret effect increased the concentration of the fluid while chemicaleffect decreased. Keywords: Chemical effect; thermo diffusion; magnetic field; heat-mass transfer.DOI: 10.3329/jname.v6i2.3761</text>

<text>This paper investigates the problems facing masters’ students with their thesis writing phases and completion. This research seeks to provide a smart solution that is beneficial, both to the advisor and student(s). Survey and interviews were conducted among masters’ students to determine the challenges facing masters students in the course of their thesis writing phases and completion process. Based on the results of the survey and interviews, a concept model for thesis supervision system (TSS) was developed Providing an automated supervision system might encourage students and advisors to communicate in an efficient way resulting in more quality of thesis outcomes and reducing the delay in thesis process. Moreover, the user interface mimics the TSS process in an interactive way that illustrates how the application would be depicted when designed.</text>

<text>The recent Review of Freedom of Speech in Australian Higher Education Providers (‘the Review’), overseen by the Hon Robert French AC, identified areas for improving freedom of speech and academic freedom, and to that end proposed the adoption of umbrella principles embedded in a Model Code. The Review’s engagement with international human rights law standards was confined, even though many are binding on Australia. As universities consider implementing the Review’s recommendations, this article reflects on the Model Code in the light particularly of the standards established by the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (‘ICCPR’). If the drafters of the Model Code had paid closer regard to the ICCPR and other international standards, the result may have been a scheme that more clearly and predictably distinguishes permissible from impermissible restriction on free speech and academic freedom, and gives greater priority to promoting the human rights of those in the academic community than to the institutional power to limit them.</text>
