<text>This article is devoted to the roots of the developments that have taken place in Ukraine since Autumn 2013 and up to the Russian invasion. It stresses the historical differences between Ukraine and Russia, presents the international milieu of Ukrainian independence in the years 1991–2013, and ends with a description of the nature of the Maidan revolution and the pan-European challenge created by the Russian aggression against Ukraine. The main thesis is that the struggle for Ukraine ends the post-Cold War epoch marked with an illusion of eternal peace in Europe and with the groundless hope for Russian imperialism to expire.</text>

<text>Ukrainian lands in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries have been in proximity of great geopolitical changes several times. During that time the Ukrainian nation – due to various factors – encountered a number of “windows of opportunity” for achieving the realization of dreams about independence and national sovereignty. The author identified in the period considered four “general moments,” of which two have been completed successfully. The first of these occurred in 1990–1991, when for the first time in modern history, Ukrainians managed to achieve a lasting and relatively stable independence. The second of the “moments” – still unresolved – are events that began in the late autumn of 2013. The process, called “Revolution of Dignity”, represents a new quality in the history of the Ukrainian nation, therefore, that the Ukrainians have to defend the status quo (independence, territorial integrity, sovereignty, etc.) but not to seek to achieve an independent being. The analysis leads to the conclusion that the ability of Ukrainians to achieve and maintain independence is largely a function of the relative power of the Russian state as measured with respect to the shape and quality of international relations.</text>

<text>The aim of the present study is to develop closed-form formulations for predicting the ultimate compressive and tensional strength of stiffened steel panels with crack damages. First, a numerical database is generated. This database includes the ultimate strength levels of stiffened steel panels with cracks subjected to axial compressive or tensile loads. It was carried out with a series of nonlinear FEM analyses by varying the size of crack damage. In the following sections, regression analysis is used for deriving the empirical formulations. The results of the present paper can be used for the reliability and risk assessment of structures, including stiffened steel panels with cracks. </text>

<text>Unstiffened plates are integral part of ship structures, offshore oil platforms, lock gates and floating docks. Openings are provided in these plates for access and maintenance. Provision of opening influences the ultimate strength of plate elements. In this paper the effect of increase in the size of rectangular opening along the loading direction on the ultimate strength is determined using nonlinear finite element analysis. A general purpose finite element software ANSYS is used for carrying out the study. The software is validated for the ultimate strength of unstiffened plate under axial compression. A parametric study is done for different plate slenderness ratios and by varying the area ratio of opening to plate to determine the effect of ultimate strength on the size of rectangular opening. It is found that increase in area ratio along the loading direction decreases the ultimate strength. The variation in ultimate strength varies linearly for plate slenderness ratio less than 2.23 and varies nonlinearly for plate slenderness ratio beyond 2.23 for area ratio ranging between 0.02 - 0.18. Based on nonlinear regression analysis, a design equation is proposed for square plate with rectangular opening under axial compression. This problem is not just a problem of the Russian Federation, but has worldwide significance due to the spread of resistant TB. Furthermore, the issue has not received the attention it deserves from the international media or the Russian government.  MDR-TB in Russia needs to be taken more seriously.</text>

<text>Websites design and quality becomes a critical success factor especially for Electronic University (E-University) and/or Mobile University (M-University) as a part of E-Government and/or M-Government; because websites are the main interface between the universities and its students and stakeholders. This study presents factors that affect undergraduate studentsâ?? adoption of website-service quality by applying the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) in Jordan. The proposed model was empirically tested using data collected from a survey containing 24 questions. Out of the 450 questionnaires that were randomly distributed, 422 were returned (93.8%). The structural equation modeling technique (SEM), by using the WarpPLS 3.0 software, was used to evaluate the causal model. Results show that student adoption and use of university website services can be predicted from the studentsâ?? behavioral intentions, which are affected significantly by performance expectancy and effort expectancy. The results show that social influence, website quality, and facilitating conditions have no direct significant effect on behavioral intention to use university website services even they have a medium grand mean for the scores of responses statements. Finally, as an ultimate aspiration, it was found that there is a direct effect between behavioral intention and actual behavioral to use university website services. Furthermore, the authors hope that understanding the underlying assumptions and theoretical constructs through the use of the UTAUT will assist developers in building, developing and maintaining a university website.</text>

<text>Ship recycling in Bangladesh has been playing as a catalyst for the economy by supporting steel industry, shipbuilding industry and other industries and it has also been generating huge employments for the country. But, existing problems of this industry in terms of safety, health and environmental issues bring negative image for the country sometimes. This paper is aimed to identify the underlying problems of ship recycling industry and then analyze the nature of the problems to make it helpful overcoming the obstacles. A brief overview about strength, weakness, opportunity and threat of the industries in global perspective has been also discussed.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/jname.v9i2.10515 Journal of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering 9(2012) 91-102</text>

<text>Any individual who progresses through life goes through various changes and transitions where ‘stress’ becomes invariably part of the journey. Adolescents are particularly vulnerable to the concept of academic stress as the transitions occur at an individual and social level. It, therefore, becomes imperative to understand the sources and impact of academic stress to derive adequate and efficient intervention strategies. This review aims to understand academic stress at a bio psychosocial level highlighting the impact and sources of academic stress. For the literature review, articles were collected from online databases such as EBSCO, ProQuest, Springer, PubMed, Jstor and Google Scholar. The literature search was done using keywords academic stress, academic anxiety, coping, physiological reactions of stress, academic performance, stress and mental health. The prevalence rate of stress varied from 15%-45% in studies conducted after 2000. The review examines stress and its physiological impact, cognitive and social influences, sources of stress detailing Indian findings.</text>

<text>The importance of using Google Translate (GT) has become dominantly more effective. Most researchers, professors, and students rely on its translation as an immediate source of getting the information in different countries all over the world. However, the academic literature fails to acknowledge what factors could contribute to the user's intention to use GT, and consequently fail to discover the effects of using GT. The purpose of this study is to explore GT acceptance in UAE. It is assumed that users' attitude towards GT may vary based on the language used. The variations in languages are unidirectional from the source language (SL) to the target language (TL) and vice versa. The suggested analytical framework is based on an extended TAM model that is proposed by [1]. A quantitative methodology approach was adopted in this study. The hypothesized model is validated empirically using the responses received from a survey of 368 respondents were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM-PLS). Results indicated that Perceived Ease of Use, Perceived Usefulness, and Motivation have a significant impact on Behavioral Intention to use GT. In addition, Perceived Usefulness and Motivation significantly influenced Perceived Ease of Use. Furthermore, Perceived Usefulness is in turn influenced by Experience. The findings provide significant theoretical and practical implications for translation researchers, teachers, and MT system developers.</text>
