The paper is a study of transformation that the Nair society underwent in Travancore in the state of Kerala in India,in the latter part of nineteenth century under the impact of education,a cash economy ,increases in social assertiveness and political aspiration among the educated class in Travancore.The spatial distribution of the Nair community was altered around Travancore state  with the advent of Colonialism.
